ETA (Equipment Type Approval) & Import License by WPC: The Wireless Planning and Coordination wing of India’s Department of Telecommunications issues approval of radio devices operating in unlicensed frequency bands. Generally, approval is based on review of foreign standard test reports and approval certificates. Radio devices operating in licensed frequency bands require a separate set of licenses.
WPC ETA Approval is the Type Approval for equipments given by WPC for the use of equipments in the Indian Telecom Network. If the product is not Type Approved, then it is required to inform WPC and obtain Type Approval from WPC. Import License is required from WPC to import any equipment, other than Broadcasting Receiver and TVRO System.

TEC (THE TELECOMMUNICATION ENGINEERING CENTER)

The Telecommunication Engineering Center is a body under Telecom Commission and a nodal agency of the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India, which is responsible for drawing up of standards, generic requirements, interface requirements, service requirements and specifications for telecom products, services and networks.
The Telecommunication Engineering Centre (TEC) is an “S&T” institution of Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India, with headquarters in New Delhi. It has four Regional Centers in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Bangalore.
