ETA (Equipment Type Approval) “Self Declaration”
The Wireless Planning and Coordination wing of India’s Department of Telecommunications issues approval of radio devices operating in unlicensed frequency bands. Generally, approval is based on review of foreign standard test reports and approval certificates. Radio devices operating in licensed frequency bands require a separate set of licenses.
WPC ETA Approval is the Type Approval for equipments given by WPC for the use of equipments in the Indian Telecom Network. If the product is not Type Approved, then it is required to inform WPC and obtain Type Approval from WPC. Import License is required from WPC to import any equipment, other than Broadcasting Receiver and TVRO System.
ETA through “Self Declaration” for certain products
ETA through self declaration is permitted for commercial/ finished products such as Mobile/ Computing devices, speaker, headphones, printers, scanners etc operating in licensed exemption band as permitted in India.
